Are you a woman with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy, looking for a safe and supportive way to stay active and regain your confidence in the privacy of your own home? Introducing "Keep Moving Me: Dance Classes for Women with Breast Cancer" a series of online dance classes designed to empower and uplift you on your healing journey.
Led by a breast cancer survivor and dance teacher, these classes are tailored to meet your unique needs and limitations.
Hi, my name is Irene, and I was diagnosed at 36 with HER2+ breast cancer and am now a survivor. I'm also a dance teacher in heart and soul, and together with my wife Carolina, a filmmaker and general audio-visual genius, we've created "Keep Moving Me: Dance Classes for Women with Breast Cancer."
Our aim is to provide a safe and supportive way for women with breast cancer to stay active and regain their confidence during treatment. Our dance classes are designed to be taken individually or as a series, with each class having its own theme, ranging from expressing emotions through movement to improving self-confidence, coordination, balance, and flexibility.
Each class is structured with a warm-up, strengthening exercises, a choreography or improvisation part, and stretches. The classes are about 20 minutes long, but every minute you can do is a win!
As a breast cancer survivor, I know firsthand the struggles that come with treatment, but I also know the healing power of movement. That's why I'm excited to share these dance classes with you, to help you find joy and inspiration in every step of your healing journey. So let's keep moving together, one step at a time.
I want to emphasize that while our dance classes can be a wonderful complement to medical treatment, they are in no way a replacement for it. We are fully aware that breast cancer is a serious illness that requires expert medical care, and we always encourage our students to follow their doctor's advice.
That being said, our classes offer a unique opportunity to take a break from the stress and anxiety that often come with a cancer diagnosis and treatment. By moving our bodies and expressing ourselves through dance, we can find moments of joy, peace, and wellness.
So while our dance classes can't cure cancer, they can be a treat for yourself, a chance to focus on your overall health and well-being, and a reminder that you are more than your diagnosis.
"These videos, made by Irene van Zeeland, a professional dancer battling cancer, were a real necessity and correspond to a therapeutic, social and logistical need. Understanding and acting from the inside is necessary in terms of effectiveness in this field. Bravo for this initiative!"
"Keep Moving Me is the platform to create some me-time during (or after) cancer treatment. In a ‘relaxed and accessible for everyone way’ you can keep moving - and loving - your body regardless of where you are in your treatment. Keep Moving Me is the treat you can give yourself. "
"Irene is an enormously positive, driven and professional dancer. From her own experiences she gives accessible and inspiring lessons with understanding for the situation of the participants. Through these fine and fun classes you can take care of your body in a positive way, at your own pace and when it suits you."
"To my knowledge, there's no other approach like the one Irene proposes. The idea of moving while associating emotions is great! It's a very good idea to have classes based on the treatment course."
